Sticks and Stones is one of my all - time favorites. It never grows old. it's timeless. It always takes me back to when I first heard it. First-rate and I'm glad for the rerelease

as always- the Doc speaks with genuine pathos. I do believe the "glorious crown" played a part- you guys had things to say, but I dug the look- and the antics too. Its a package deal when you enjoy this recording again. THX!

I've always thought that MT+Nowhere-Else (because Nowhere Else came right after MT & seemed to be in the same romantic vein) together was that "one hit song".
Sticks and Stones was my first 77s album - hooked me for life.
I went out and hunted down all of the early albums & it was like finding buried treasure - I couldn't believe that I missed this group during the 80s.

Great article guys - thank you. The 77s meant a lot to me as a "fringey" girl in a small town, choosing to be a Christian. I appreciate that Mike brings the story to spiritual thoughts and the theme of reconciliation with band members, and seems to have a good grasp on what those years meant.

Yes I agree. I have been waiting for the Slide release for quite some time. Glad to hear the album is worth the wait, and I hope to be able to see them live.

Picked me up some VoL at a time when I was searching for some answers, some solutions to my weaknesses, frailties and addictions. I was hooked from the get-go. The VoL catalogue and the Bill Mallonee catalogue continue to be where I go when I need to know that, yes, someone else knows the struggles and still finds hope. Bill Mallonee is about as "real" an artist and man as you'll ever hear.
Bill, hope you're enjoying life out here in the great Southwest! Looking forward to your next jaunt to Phoenix!
