====== Xalt ====== Heavy Metal\\ Holt, Michigan, USA John Heald of [[Armada (Michigan)]] fame helped to form Xalt with leader/guitarist James Erdman in 1987. At some point Steve Davis joined on bass as well. Heald recorded a version of the band's debut album //Dark War// as lead vocalist and drummer, co-writing several of the tracks on that release. Scott Doerfler and Todd Gleason would later join the band, and along with Erdman and Davis, recorded the version of //Dark War// that would be released in 1988. Randy Carlson (also from [[Armada (Michigan)]]) replaced Davis after recording and supporting [[Armada (Michigan)]]'s //Frontline// album. Carlson first appeared on 1990's //Under the Ruins//, and has played on all of the band's albums since them. ===== Discography ===== | 1987 | [[https://christiantapeunderground.wordpress.com/2020/02/11/xalt-dark-war-original-version/|Dark War (original version)]] | | 1988 | Dark War | E&E Records | | 1990 | Under the Ruins | [[Pure Metal Records]] | | 1991 | History | [[Pure Metal Records]] | | 1997 | Helium Blue Gazebo | [[Kaluboné Records]] | | 2017 | Dark War (expanded edition) | Retroactive Records | ------ ==== Dark War (original version) ==== 1987 Independent John Heald – Vocals, drums\\ Jim Erdman – Guitars\\ Steve Davis – Bass\\ [[Ed Englerth]] – Bass\\ Todd Gleason – Drums - Ariel - On the Cross - Dark War - Palace Daydream (instrumental) - Angry Fire - Ready for the Fight - God in a Box - 19:13-14 (Where Victory Storms) (instrumental) - Looking Down a Loaded Gun - A Warriors Honor ------ ==== Dark War ==== 1988 E&E Records (EE003)\\ 2017 Retroactive Records (RRCD1425) Scott Doerfler - Vocals\\ James Erdman - Guitars\\ Steve David - Bass\\ Todd Gleason - Drums - Ariel (instrumental) (0:40) - The Cross (3:14) - God in a Box (2:47) - Where Victory Storms (instrumental) (2:58) - Angry Fire (4:07) - Ready for the Fight (2:29) - A Warriors Honor (2:44) - Looking Down a Loaded Gun (4:14) - Palace Daydream (instrumental) (2:04) - Soldiers in the Midst (instrumental) (3:02) - Dark War (5:17) == Expanded Edition Bonus Tracks== - Under the Ruins - Wounded Heart - The Kingdom Within - Lift Him Up - The Fortress - Through the Night ------ ==== Under the Ruins ==== 1990 [[Pure Metal Records]] (SPCN 790-060-3808) Scott Doerfler - Vocals\\ James Erdman - Guitars\\ Randy Carlson - Bass\\ Todd Gleason - Drums - Through the Night (3:47) - Forgiven (2:48) - Under the Ruins (4:03) - Waste Your Life Away (3:31) - Lost Without You (4:06) - Piercing the Darkness (4:50) - The Fortress (2:48) - Wounded Heart (4:47) - The Kingdom Within (instrumental) (2:53) - Lift Him Up (3:33) ------ ==== History ==== 1991 [[Pure Metal Records]] (SSD8169) Scott Doerfler - Vocals\\ James Erdman - Guitars\\ Randy Carlson - Bass - Standing (4:02) - Heart of Stone (4:32) - Babel Again (3:45) - Walk Away (3:07) - Unconditional Love (5:02) - History (2:58) - Build My World (4:30) - The Tree (4:30) - Reflection (4:14) - Lord, Lord (1:25) ------ ==== Helium Blue Gazebo ==== 1997 [[Kaluboné Records]] (KBD1004) Scott Doerfler - Vocals\\ James Erdman - Guitars\\ Randy Carlson - Bass\\ Todd Gleason - Drums - Choose (3:26) - Future Flyaway (4:07) - Security (1:53) - Pizza Driver (4:49) - Helium Blue Gazebo (3:22) - Love Will (3:49) - Found a Reason (3:41) - Winds of Change (4:18) - Witch Hunt (4:47) - The River (4:27) ------
