====== Conviction of Sin ======

At some point around 1984/1985, [[David "Burrito" Villalpando]] left [[GVA]] and joined Conviction of Sin. Also in 1985, Burrito met future [[The Warning]] and Dio guitarist Tracey G. Burrito was a bouncer for a local promoter and Tracy G was playing for a band called Swift Kick. Tracy G was known for being a Christian that played in non-Christian bands, so he got a lot of backlash for that. Burrito decided to tell Tracy G how he supported his approach to being a Christian in non-Christian bands, and this began a musical partnership between the two. Part of that included recording guitar overdubs of Conviction of Sin's Live recording, as well as doing the guitars on //U.S. Decay//.

Conviction of Sin performed in a concert with [[Fourth Watch]] (which was called [[316]] at the time). Some of the members of [[Moral Majority]] were at the show and like the way that Burrito screamed and/or sang, so they asked him
to join. Conviction of Sin's drummer Doni Daudel went on to join [[Eternal Ryte]]. Burrito went on to form [[The Warning]] and [[Eightball Cholos]].

Both tapes recorded by the band went unreleased until they were released as part of the //Godcore Series// in 1989 by [[The Furnace Room]]. This project "was originally created to showcase the development of the California Godcore music scene by highlighting the bands at their creative live best. Due to unexpected technicalities, the project was scrapped but not before less than 100 sets had been produced and distributed to reviewers around the globe."

In 2017, Burrito and David formed Godcore records with the intention of releasing demos by [[Moral Majority]], Conviction of Sin, [[The Warning]], and others. So far there have been no releases.

In 2020, //Live (Godcore Tapes part 3)// was released on a bonus disc with the remastered [[Eightball Cholos]] album //Satan's Whore// by Roxx Records.

From the liner notes: "Before becoming a Christian, Burrito was heavily involved in the L.A. hardcore scene. Violence and rebellion were popular forms of expression among the youth. After becoming a Christian, Burrito saw that there was a great need to reach others with the truth of Jesus Christ so he formed a band called [[GVA]] (God's Victorious Army). Although Burrito fit into the scene (with his black hair, blonde mohawk, triple earrings, trench coat and Doc Martins) the other members of [[GVA]] did not really understand it since they were never really a part of the community. Burrito then went on to form [[Conviction of Sin]]. As a band COS gigged 9 months and recorded two cassette projects which went unreleased until now (the second project being Conviction of Sin - //Live//). During this time the Christian underground began to thrive with [[ZOTT]] and [[The Activist]] keeping it informed. Bands weren't concerned with getting signed. The scene was alive and vital.

From the liner notes: "The bands just wanted to preach Christ. [[Association of the Cross|ATOC]], [[Circle One]], [[Scaterd Few]] and [[The Lead]] were all in the vortex of the Christian punk / Godcore movement. There were no studios, only garages and basements. There were no expensive mixers, only tape decks and boom boxes. There were no promoters or managers, only friends with a willingness to pitch in. The word 'community' meant something. When a song was sung you knew what they were talking about and where they stood. Lyrics weren't simply 'positive,' they were open and totally upfront. This was the Underground Burrito was involved in. His main interest was in ministry, so he and two friends (Mike and Gary) formed [[Radicals for Christ]]. It was then that Burrito was asked to join a band called [[Moral Majority]]...
