Diller-Anderson Band

AOR Rock
Oregon, USA

“Ron Diller & Steve Anderson met in August of 1975 while attending a Youth for Christ staff retreat on the Oregon coast. The next week Ron invited Steve to join a band he was in called, “Radiance.” For the next five years Radiance played churches & youth events around Oregon. Highlights of the Radiance years included opening for Anita Bryant, appearing at Jesus Northwest, and recording one album.

Little by little Ron & Steve began writing songs together and doing side gigs as an acoustic duo. Diller & Anderson was officially born in 1980 when Steve & Ron left Radiance to go it alone! Over the next several years the duo began to make a name for themselves throughout the northwest playing churches, youth camps & coffee houses. During this time they recorded their debut album entitled, “Diller & Anderson.” While in the recording studio Ron & Steve met a keyboard player and a high school senior named Blair Masters. Blair had been recruited by the studio owner to play piano on a couple tracks. During that time a friendship and a musical bond began to form between Ron, Steve & Blair. In ’85 D & A returned to the recording studio and began laying tracks for their second album entitled “Aggressive!” again joined by Blair Masters. Sometime in 1985 Steve & Ron were contacted by Free Rain records, an independent Christian record label based out of Northstar Recording studio in Portland, OR At this point things began to pick up speed.

The guys went into Northstar & re-recorded many of the tracks on the Aggressive album often joined on Drums by Brian David Willis, former drummer for the band, “Quarterflash.” Soon thereafter Free Rain landed a distribution deal with Regency Records out of Los Angeles which resulted in international distribution of the Aggressive LP. At the same time, live ministry opportunities for The Diller & Anderson Band began to flood in resulting in a decision to go full time with their ministry. For the next three years Ron, Blair, Steve, Steve’s wife Conya, & their son Trevin traveled the west coast and Canada in a 20 ft. motor home playing anywhere & everywhere they could. Highlights of their time on the road included multiple appearances at Jesus Northwest, Expo in Vancouver BC, a Canadian tour of British Columbia, Alberta, & Saskatchewan and an endless number of Campus Life events. They also played opening gigs for artists such as Geoff Moore and the Distance, Steven Curtis Chapman, Servant, Greg X. Volz of Petra fame, Former McCartney drummer Joe English, Kim Boyce, Benny Hester, Tony Campolo, Luis Palau. Other concert tours took them from Santa Catalina, Island, to Canada, to Alaska three times, South Padre Island, TX, Denver, CO, & Davenport/ Quad cities, Iowa.

In 1988, due to growing families, and changing times, the band decided to call it quits but not before releasing their final album entitled, “Young & Justified”. Soon thereafter, Blair Masters, taking full advantage of relationships built through his time with the Diller & Anderson, Band moved to Nashville, TN where he quickly began a very successful career as a studio musician. Ron Diller returned to his day job but has remanined mucially active as a solo acoustic guitar player. He has recorded three popular solo CD’s of Christmas music & Hymns. Steve moved to California and became a youth Pastor for a bay area church where they often played. In 1990 he returned to Oregon, becoming a staff pastor & worship Leader at Westside Church in Bend, OR. In 2004 Steve moved back to the Willamette Valley & became worship leader at Family Life Church in Newberg, OR. In January of 2006, Ron & Steve reunited in Steve’s home studio to record a rocking version of Amazing Grace for Steve’s first solo album entitled, “Stephen Levi Anderson- Jerichos & Giants.” Amazing Grace became the guys first new recording in nearly 20 years.”
