“Heritage is the Australian foursome of Tony Williams, Jon Jones, Steve Cliff and Nigel Haviland. Masque has a well-produced rock sound worthy of labels like Tunesmith and Solid Rock, featuring both heavy and light moments ala Daniel Amos’ Horrendous Disc. ‘Clown’ opens the album with crunchy guitars, heavy synths and Styx-ish time changes, while ‘Overkill’ and ‘I’m Watching You’ rock solidly with loud guitar leads. ‘Stepping Lightly’, ‘Spotlight’ and ‘Face The Moon’ are all decent mid-rocking songs. On the quieter side are ballads like ‘Diamond Rhyme’, ‘Magic In You’, ‘She’ll Be Around’, ‘Bingo Ladies’ and ‘Brothers’. As far as lyrics, the Christian content is there, but usually in a subtle way (look for the occasional capitalized “He” in the words). Front cover photo shows four guys wearing grotesque masks facing a clown. Same label as the excellent Bennelong Session and Srnith’s Comfort lps. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).”
