====== Eric Champion ====== Pop / Electronic / Dance / Alternative Rock\\ Daytona Beach, Florida, USA Eric Champion was born on May 12, 1970 in Valdosta, Georgia, In the beginning of his musical career, he was a dance / pop singer. His music had the flair of many of his Christian pop contemporaries but with more of a Michael Jackson–meets–Prince vocal approach with futuristic techno dance sounds. Although his first demo tape was recorded when he was only 18 years old, one of Champion's biggest albums during his pop phase was //Vertical Reality//, which went on to sell nearly 100,000 units. //Transformation// marked a distinct change in sound to a guitar-driven alternative rock sound. Champion also is noted for songwriting with various artists including [[Rebecca St James]] and [[Plumb]]. He was also part of [[The B-W Project]] in 1993 along with Rodney "T" Thomas, whose lone album was released through Warner Alliance. in 2005, Champion formed an indie rock band called Rook that released the //Bad Memory EP//. ===== Discography ===== | 1988 | [[https://christiantapeunderground.wordpress.com/2025/08/25/eric-champion-win/|Win]] | | 1990 | Eric Champion | [[Myrrh Records]] | | 1991 | Revolution Time | [[Word Records]] / Epic Records | | 1992 | Hot Christmas | [[Myrrh Records]] | | 1992 | Save the World | [[Myrrh Records]] | | 1994 | Vertical Reality | [[Myrrh Records]] | | 1996 | Transformation | [[Essential Records]] | | 1998 | Natural | [[Essential Records]] | | 2005 | Unexpected EP | Luminous Art Media | ------ ==== Win ==== 1988 (no label) Eric Champion – Vocals, music Carol Champion – Additional background vocals\\ Bob Champion – Sax solo on “Friends Forever”\\ Caprill Champion – Duet vocals on “Friends Forever” - The Winning Side - House of Love - I Wanna Be There - Hold On - Open Arms - Above It All - Friends Forever - Not Gonna Give In - I Found You - You’re a Winner ------ ==== Eric Champion ==== 1990 [[Myrrh Records]] (MYRCD 6904) Eric Champion - Lead vocals, keyboards, programming, backing vocals Jerry McPherson - Guitar\\ Mark Douthit - Saxophone\\ John Hammond - Snare fills\\ Michelle Hodges - Lord's prayer on "Everyday People," yelling and screaming on "Brother, Brother"\\ Ronnie Brookshire - Yelling and screaming on "Brother, Brother"\\ Tim Craft - Yelling and screaming on "Brother, Brother" - Forever Love (4:38) - Brother, Brother (5:20) - Peaceful (6:16) - We are the Young (6:05) - River's Edge (5:32) - Everyday People (7:29) - Heaven on Earth (5:04) - Friends in High Places (4:29) - Ready and Willing (3:44) - Above It All (4:21) ------ ==== Revolution Time ==== 1991 [[Word Records]] / Epic Records (EK 47997) Eric Champion - Lead vocals, keyboards, programming, backing vocals Jerry McPherson - Guitar\\ Carolyn Brooks - Backing vocals on "Feeling of Your Love" and "Can't Sleep"\\ Mark Douthit - Saxophone - Generation of Right (5:38) - Happenin' Pride (3:29) - Keep Your Mouth to Yourself (4:23) - What You're Looking For (4:28) - Always Here (3:53) - Feeling of Your Love (4:22) - Can't Sleep (3:50) - Party Up (4:55) - Don't Touch That Temple (3:59) - Re-generation of Right (6:15) ------ ==== Hot Christmas ==== 1992 [[Myrrh Records]] (7016963616) Eric Champion - Lead vocals, keyboards, programming, backing vocals Mark Baldwin - Guitar \\ Ron Jones - Saxophone\\ Robert Champion - Saxophone on "Hot Christmas"\\ Mike Drake - Drums on "Somebody's Santa"\\ Dave Zolar - Piano on "Somebody's Santa"\\ Randy Lee - Saxophone on "Somebody's Santa"\\ George Anderson - Upright piano on "Somebody's Santa"\\ B.J.
