====== GROMS ====== Doom/Death Metal\\ Kristiansand, Norway GROMS is an acronym for "God Rules Over My Soul." GROMS is a groovy death metal band that formed in Kristiansand, Norway in 1992. They toured Poland and released a demo called //Turn// in 1993. They then self released their only album //Ascension// in 1994. Later, on December 21st, 1994, //Ascension// was re-released on the Arctic Serenades label. There were reports of a second album, tentatively entitled //I Beseech Thee//, but nothing more came out of it. Torodd Fuglesteg, the man behind Arctic Serenades, is a very anti-religious person and the relationship between label and band resulted in severed ties. When guitarist Hans Dalen left the band, they split up. //Ascension// was re-released again by Pleitegeier Records in 1996. Three of their songs ("Ascension," "True Wisdom," and "No One") made it on to the //Northern Lights: Norwegian Metal Compilation// by [[Rowe Productions]] in 1996. ===== Discography ===== | 1993 | Turn | | 1994 | Ascension | Groms Records | | 1994 | Ascension (re-issue) | Arctic Serenades | | 1996 | Ascension (re-issue) | Pleitegeier Records | ------ ==== Turn ==== 1993 Independent Øyvind Haugland - Vocals, guitars\\ Hans Dalen - Guitars\\ Haakon Johanessen - Bass\\ Petter Gordon Jensen - Drums - Turn - G.R.O.M.S. - My Imagination - The Servant ------ ==== Ascension ==== 1994 Groms Records\\ 1994 Arctic Serenades (SERE 002)\\ 1996 Pleitegeier Records (PGD 6940) Øyvind Haugland - Vocals, guitars\\ Hans Dalen - Guitars\\ Haakon Johanessen - Bass\\ Petter Gordon Jensen - Drums - Ascension (5:32) - From Dust to Dust (3:56) - True Wisdom (6:11) - The Riddle (2:45) - Truth Misunderstood (3:59) - No One (4:05) - The End of the Age (4:45) - The Voice of Righteousness (5:39) - The Just Shall Live by Faith (3:22) ------
