Hester Prynnes was one of the first names, or maybe even the first name, for [[Starflyer 59]]. Jason Martin either started recording these songs while he was still in [[Dance House Children]], or soon after he left.

Martin recorded about 17 songs and put together a demo from the songs. Some of the songs from the demo surfaced online several years ago with the name "Hester Prynnes" on the label. However, they are more commonly referred to as the [[Starflyer 59]] //Silver Demos// now, as most of the tracks on here were re-recorded for the forst self-titled [[Starflyer 59]] album (aka //Silver//).

Hester Prynnes changed names to Starflyer 2000. Andrew Larsen was a member of Starflyer 2000, but he may have also been a member of Hester Prynnes. Starflyer 2000 was going to record some of their songs for a release on [[Siren Records]], but the label went under before that happened. Martin met Brandon Ebel at a California music festival and gave him a copy of his demo. Ebel went on to form [[Tooth & Nail Records]], and signed Starflyer 2000 to a short record deal. They changed names to [[Starflyer 59]] at some point before releasing their first album.
