====== Program One ====== Ambient / Electronic\\ Minot, North Dakota, USA Paul McCormack of Christian industrial rock outfit Phase also recorded ambient and new age music under the moniker Program One. The project released one album, //Sola(s)// in 1999. Most songs featured a quiet, synth and piano-driven sound reminiscent of Vangelis and Jeff Johnson. In 1999 this update was posted: "Program One has been doing some additional work on a few upcoming releases tentatively titled //Quicken// (which is more dance oriented) and //Sola(s)// which is more ambient/expiremental." It is unknown if //Quicken// was ever released. From another website: "The half-wit musical brother of Phase, Program One was originally an ambient instrumental project. While Phase was designed to be a more cathartic experience, P1 was to be more ethereal and earthy. After the //Cathartica + Intrasphere// release, the follow-up EP //Sola(s)// was released for limited critical review along with //Who Loves Ya//. While the reviews were often glowing, P1 quickly became more and more of a non-presence in the ensuing retreat from music that also killed Phase. Program One is not officially dead, and may even return in some form at a later point. However, don't hold your breath..." ===== Discography ===== | 1996 | Phase + Program One | Cathartica + Intrasphere (limited version) | | 1997 | Phase + Program One | Cathartica + Intrasphere | KFKOD Recordings | | 1998 | Program One | Sola(s) | KFKOD Recordings | | 2000 | Phase + Program One | Reactor + Redactor | KFKOD Recordings | ------ ==== Cathartica + Intrasphere (limited version) ==== 1996 Independent Paul McCormick - Guitars, vocals, keyboards - Phase - Purge (4:44) - Phase - Empty Spaces (3:47) - Phase - Walking on Water (3:56) - Phase - Big Empty Space (4:27) - Phase - Visions of Blue (4:06) - Phase - (unknown Michael Knott song) (?:??) - Program One - Configuration Nine (6:06) - Program One - Song for a Windy Day (8:06) - Program One - Untitled (6:42) - Program One - Musings (4:44) The original pressing of the CD in 1996 was limited to 50 copies which sold out quickly. ------ ==== Cathartica + Intrasphere ==== 1997 KFKOD Recordings (KFKOD001) Paul McCormick - Guitars, vocals, keyboards - Phase - Purge (4:45) - Phase - Empty Spaces (3:48) - Phase - Walking on Water (3:58) - Phase - Big Empty Space (4:28) - Phase - Visions of Blue (4:07) - Phase - Mire (6:34) - Program One - Configuration Nine (6:07) - Program One - Song for a Windy Day (8:08) - Program One - Untitled (6:44) - Program One - Musings (4:45) - Phase - 'Til Nothing Remains (6:13) ------ ==== Sola(s) ==== 1998 KFKOD Recordings Paul McCormick - Scripture - Grace - Christ Part I - Christ Part II - Christ Part III - Christ Part IV - Faith - Glory ------ ==== Reactor + Redactor ==== 199? KFKOD Recordings Unknown if this was ever released. From an update in October 1999: "//Reactor/Redactor// has begun. As reported earlier it is planned to be a 2-CD set with disc one featuring a number of b-sides and other unreleased tracks from Phase, Program One, and special appearences by Ungenziefer. The original material is mostly finished and now work on disc two (consisting of cover songs and re-interpretations) has begun. Currently songs from such notable bands/individuals as Joy Division, Over the Rhine, Mike Knott, John Cage, Bob Dylan. and Pink Floyd are at various stages of completion. Final appearence will, of course, depend on approval by the various holders of the copyrights and the actual song (re)writing process. So far, the work done on disc one is still in the usual Phase/P1 strangeness. Disc two has been considerably more "pop-ish" and has combined a variety of influences not usually seen in a standard KFKOD release. Continue to check back (or e-mail us) for the latest developments." "A few rough tracks have been laid including a cover of the Michael Knott tune "Crash and Burn" as well as a few odd instrumentals and such." ------ ==== Compilation Appearances ==== //**Ballistic Test 7**// (1998 Flaming Fish Music)\\ 13) Scripture //**Forensics Lab: Songs From a Crime Scene**// (1999 Flaming Fish Music)\\ 15) Untitled ------ ==== Other Songs === Two songs were shared on the old mp3.com website, but it is unknown if these tracks were released on any albums: * Walking On Water (Program One version) * Herb_Al ------ ===== Links ===== * Archive of the Old Program One Website
