Saltine was formed by Ken Stringfellow (formerly of The Posies), Blake Wescott (formerly of [[Bloomsday]]), John Haslip, and Paul Mumaw (formerly of [[Soulfood 76]]).

Saltine was also one of the possible bands considered for inclusion on the never completed third volume of the [[Art Core]] compilation series on [[Tooth & Nail Records]].
