Jupiter James started off as Red Timber and had their song “Lemonade” appear on two Tooth & Nail Records compilations. At some point they signed to Velvet Blue Music and changed their name to Jupiter James. Jeff Cloud described their sound as The Smiths meets Black Sabbath. The released one 7-inch and one full length for Velvet Blue Music before members went their separate ways.
Travis Zimmerman went on to join Enemy Ships as well as playing for Bon Voyage. Angelo Esquibel went on to play for MAP and Hank Floyd. Joe Esquibel also joined MAP and Hank Floyd, as well as Bon Voyage, Sir Canyon, Pony Express, and Starflyer 59.
