Leaderdogs for the Blind started in 1993 as a solo project by guitarist Lyndon Perry. That same year, Dwight Mohrman, Grant Mohrman, and Andrew Barancik from the band Lost Tribe joined. The band (with Grant Mohrman on lead vocals) recorded the song “Numb” for R.E.X. Music's 1994 compilation Demo-lition II.
In 1995, R.E.X. Music offered a one album deal to the band. They recruited singer Derek Cilibrasi to track vocals. In November Lemonade (named after the band's favorite drink) was released, but shortly afterwards the band split. The trio of Barancik and the Mohrman brothers decided to reform Lost Tribe (which was renamed to Full on the Mouth), which Derek and Lyndon formed a live act with drummer Geoff Laforet to support Lemonade live. The band went quiet not long after that.
In 2002, Lyndon Perry reformed the band with new members, but shortened their name to “Leaderdogs” in deference to the Rochester Hills, Michigan-based guide dog organization “Leaderdogs for the Blind.” In 2007, this new line-up released The Resurrected Me ep in 2003 but then went silent again.
In 2010, Lyndon Perry formed Middle of a Dream and released several single songs and eps. In 2018, Lyndon Perry formed Bangupstate with Derek Cilibraise and Geoff Laforet and released several single songs.
In February of 2020, Lyndon Perry, Derek Cilibraise, and Geoff Laforet decided to revisit the Leaderdogs for the Blind name and sound to record a follow-up to Lemonade 25 years later. Feel This was released in the same year.
