“I was born in Martinez, California (the bay area) on July 13th, 1978, two months early and weighing only 3lbs 14oz. I'm the oldest of six children. Dennis and Lisa are my parents and then there are Nathan, Anna, Aaron, Naomi, and Rosemary. I lived in California until the age of 15, when my family and I moved to Nebraska.
As a young girl and teen, I had been heavily into dance and had dreamed of joining a professional ballet company. When we moved, that dream had to be given up, as we lived in a rural community and there were no places to pursue dance nearby. Lacking a creative outlet was very sad and repressive for me and I needed some way to express myself. I'd always loved to sing. When I was very small I wanted to be like Amy Grant, as a matter of fact my parents took me to see her for my 6th birthday. So a new friend in Nebraska offered to teach me to play guitar. I took off with it, my interest in music and art was always so great, and I started to begin writing songs almost immediately.
I have such a strong desire placed in me to sing and I want to get out what I have inside of me. I love music. I love to sing. I know God placed that inside of me. I can't wait to see the places that takes me. I hope people see that passion through my music. I have found an outlet in expressing myself through song and through poetry and I can think of nothing I'd rather do than share that with other people.”
