GROMS
Doom/Death Metal
Kristiansand, Norway
GROMS is an acronym for “God Rules Over My Soul.” GROMS is a groovy death metal band that formed in Kristiansand, Norway in 1992. They toured Poland and released a demo called Turn in 1993. They then self released their only album Ascension in 1994. Later, on December 21st, 1994, Ascension was re-released on the Arctic Serenades label. There were reports of a second album, tentatively entitled I Beseech Thee, but nothing more came out of it. Torodd Fuglesteg, the man behind Arctic Serenades, is a very anti-religious person and the relationship between label and band resulted in severed ties. When guitarist Hans Dalen left the band, they split up. Ascension was re-released again by Pleitegeier Records in 1996. Three of their songs (“Ascension,” “True Wisdom,” and “No One”) made it on to the Northern Lights: Norwegian Metal Compilation by Rowe Productions in 1996.
