Most people became familiar with Tribus through the HM Magazine samplers. Tribus started off as a Latin-inspired shred instrumental three-piece. Soon it evolved into into a solo outlet for Carlos Soto, who created several albums all on different types of bass guitar.

In the 1999 digital files for “Brain Damage,” HM magazine had this to say: “This 15-song disc is essentially a re-issue of the last disc we reviewed, with five new songs added.” So this disc might have had 10 songs, and it might have been re-issued with 5 more, including “Brain Damage.”
