New Dw. Dunphy Album Charm Offensive Focuses On Tying Up Loose Ends

(February 22, 2021 – Red Bank, New Jersey) Introverse Media Ltd. announces the release of singer-songwriter Dw. Dunphy’s new album, Charm Offensive, on March 5, his first since 2017’s Caldera. It will be available on all the major streaming music services.

Charm Offensive is an expanded version of a three-song E.P. released in July 2019. Dunphy said the recording represents a newfound desire to “tie up loose ends.”

“The first Charm Offensive was completed and put out on Bandcamp just before my father was hospitalized with congestive heart failure in August 2019,” Dunphy explained. Donald Dunphy ultimately passed from his ailment in late October 2019. Shortly thereafter, several members of Dunphy’s family also passed, none from COVID. However, the global pandemic presented numerous challenges.

“I don’t see Charm Offensive as a ‘COVID album,’ explained Dunphy, “but instead, it’s about finishing unfinished work, and I always saw the E.P. version of Charm Offensive as an incomplete effort.” He said that the past two years have refocused his attention. “It’s such a cliche, right? You are faced with mortality and it puts a fire under you, but there’s truth in it. It forces you to ask the question if you are satisfied with the work you leave behind if you are suddenly unable to address it.”

The album’s second single, “(I’m Not Here to Be) Your Conscience,” is according to Dunphy the most present in its moment on the record. “I know many people who complain about the limitations being imposed by the pandemic,” Dunphy said. “Yet they claim it is a hoax, won’t wear masks, state they’ll refuse the vaccinations … and on some level, I think they know the truth. At first, you try to explain and cajole, try to coerce people to do the right thing, but eventually, you hit the breaking point. You give up on futile wars.”

Dunphy says Charm Offensive is not overtly political, and yet, “We live in a time where everything is political. You literally cannot cough right now without it being glancingly regarded as political. I suppose I’m leaning into that with this record because I’m trying to reach out to equally frustrated people.”

Charm Offensive drops on March 5 on all major streaming services including Bandcamp which presently has a pre-order offer available.

Theodore Andrew Obrastoff has been creating plays, musicals, rock music and more for over four decades. At one mystical juncture he created the region of Arktos and it’s chief city, Tighna. Within the borders of this very real and yet something more setting, Obrastoff provided an environment for many of his unreleased works. In a sense, Arktos is Mr. O’s Opus; his greatest work. It wasn’t until the Covid Epidemic struck that the inspiration to publish this idea came into focus. The center of life in Tighna is her amplitude modulation (AM) radio station, KARC—The Circle. It made sense to embrace a radio drama as the medium of sharing this mystical world. And so The Arktos Chronicles came to life via YouTube, a website, and a Facebook page (links below).

Tighna town is perched on the edge of the Arctic Circle, just inside North Alaska. She originated as a city of solace and of hiding by people with mental illnesses escaping Soviet persecution. The leader of these people, their advocate was and is the man Nicholas. His son, Nicholovitch (now known as Jack Yukon) both constructed and operates KARC Radio. Other on-air personalities include Mic Thunder (morning drive) and Blake Easy (mid-day), and Jack himself covers the nights. On either side of the Road going north out of town there is a Russian Tavern/Inn on the East side, and an Irish Pub/Inn on the West side. There is the Polar Depot where a train comes through as needed. There is Dinah’s Café and any number of shops.

Along with Obrastoff, the show is voice acted by Robb Randle (the Jordan River Project) and Mike Indest (New Orleans radio director). The three-part Pilot Episode begins airing on YouTube, released in three parts, beginning December 20th, the 22nd, and finally the 23rd. For the realistic radio drama experience, the audience may listen (view) each part as they roll out, or they may wait and listen to each of them together at a time of their choosing. The show is and will always be free for listening. Volume 1 of The Music of Arktos (digital CD) will be released soon and the price will be far less than a normal musical release.

With his new project Good Saint Nathanael, Nate Allen is turning to face his demons leading with a rare, disarming vulnerability. On Hide No Truth (available on Feb. 1st), the harder Nate looks at himself in the mirror, the more humanity reveals its bitter, beautiful complexity.

The nine songs on Hide No Truth find Nate stripping back his sonic palette to reveal stark, memorable, acoustic songs full of detail and intention.

In what is a cathartic move towards self-choice, honest art and emotional health, Nate uses religious language to explore human vulnerability and his own broken Christian religious experience.

Faced with a choice between ignoring his past or leaving his faith and community, Good Saint Nathanael is a project seeking a 3rd path, one that lances the wounds, protests somberly, and grieves deeply while still refusing to give up.
