Band members Paul Sanmarco, Angela Sanmarco, and Joe Tsutsumishita first started playing together in the Brown Street Band, which was their church youth group praise band. After playing together for a couple of years, they had the desire to start writing their own music and thus formed Daylight in 1997.

In 1998 they began recording their CD Daylight which was later released in March 1999. Shortly after they met up with drummer Tim Borrmann who joined the band in August 1999.

They had originally planed to release second CD entitled Totally Consumed, which was planned to be a collaboration of original praise & worship. It appears this album was never released. Their sound and style started evolving, going from 80's pop rock to a mature alternative rock sound. They had plans to release their sophomore release in the fall of 2002, but it appears that never happened.
