Help Paul Soupiset Release “Limerence”

posted in: Music News | 0

Down the Line readers may remember Paul Souiset from his graphic art through the years (remember the cover to Love Coma’s Soul Rash?), or via his collaborations with Chris Taylor. Maybe you got his 1994 CD Acoustic Coffee. Well, it is finally time for him to put out a new album. Read on and support the Kickstarter if you are so inclined:

“Hey!

Paul Soupiset here, from San Antonio, Texas. I’m a creative director / graphic designer by day and I make original art and music in the evenings and on the weekends. I’ve been writing songs for over 40 years and it’s been more than 25 years since my last album was released.

And now it’s time for a new release—I have a collection of a dozen new original Americana/Folk/Quirky/Jangly/Acoustic Pop songs that I am ready to share with the world. Now I need your help getting the project across the finish line: the songs are about 90% complete, and in order to fund the duplication of the project (onto CD and 150-gram Vinyl) I’m launching this Kickstarter campaign for one month only!

About Limerence

For the past few months, just about every Sunday afternoon I’ve gotten together with one of my very best friends, local singer-songwriter Chris Taylor, to record these new songs in our living rooms. No fancy studio, just a good Blue® microphone, an audio interface, and a couple laptops. More than just my voice and guitar, we’ve brought in special friends like drummer Chris Dodds, bassist Justin Schneider, pedal steel player Clete Ritta, and guitarist Mitchell Connell to push these songs from good to great. I’m calling the album Limerence.

Most of these 12 songs were written in the last two years, though three of the songs are brand new (and another three songs are quite older: friends who remember my last CD will recognize Spinning Plates on Sticks, which we are completely reimagining).

About half these songs were written or finished at one of a number of songwriting workshops or artist retreats I’ve been lucky to attend recently. I mention that because i’m indebted to some greats: Linford Detweiler, Karin Bergquist, Claire Holley, Ben Kyle, Kelly McRae, Matthew Castelein, Andy Gullahorn, and Jill Phillips, all whom have been my de facto teachers in one way or another in the last few years as I’ve gotten back into songwriting as an ongoing practice.

Here’s where you come in.
Whether you have no idea who I am and you just want to lend your support by donating a dollar, or you wanna go in whole-hog and get a Deluxe Box Set with an original painting by yours truly, there are quite a few material ways you can support the duplication of Limerence.

Order a digital download, a CD, an album, and more by choosing your level of support at the right. Order as many as you want; they will make great holiday presents. Remember, it’s All or nothing. This project will only be funded if it reaches its goal by the campaign deadline.

If you’re already a fan of my music, or just want to do me a solid, please consider sharing this Kickstarter with your tribe to help get the word out.

It takes about 16 weeks (4 months! Yeesh!) to get vinyl duplicated these days, so the sooner we can get the project funded, the quicker we can mail copies out. My personal goal is to have audio in your headphones in September, CDs in the mail by October, and Vinyl hitting mailboxes before Christmas (we hope). That’s the timeline we’re working toward.

I’ll be posting more here as I’m able, throughout the campaign.

Ready? Let’s do this! Thank you for your support.

Warmest regards on an already hot summer’s day,

Paul Soupiset”
