“Bones and Stones is the fourth release from The Dan The D, AKA Dan Donovan. After living 30 years in Fenland, England Dan moved up to Nottinghamshire where Dan soon recruited local drummer Dom Ridley. Within a year Dan had a couple of new tunes that were recorded by Steve Potter and Isi Clarke and the original plan was to release an EP in November ‘24. The EP release was delayed as a result of Dan writing more songs and then deciding to make a full album. Dan recorded more tunes, some exploring ambient themes, an acoustic track and then his old drummer mate Matt Middleton recorded drums at his studio in Brittany for two more tracks.
The words ‘Bones’ and ‘Stones’ feature strongly in the lyrics it made sense to call the album ‘Bones and Stones’. Dan says ‘I think it’s a primal thing, something fundamental, basic, essential, raw and human, which is how I see these recordings.’”
