Help Ojo Taylor Release a New Album: “Behold”

“Most people know me as the keyboard player, songwriter and producer for the seminal group Undercover, and the guy at the helm of Broken Records / Brainstorm Artists. This is the first set of all-new material I have recorded in 20 years. I’m more excited about this release and these songs than I can remember being on any other project. I felt I would have to have something meaningful to say musically and lyrically and this is that record. Behold brings a sense of maturity to the lyrics & music that comes with a few years and a lot of experience.

It was part of something,
And now it’s not.
It’s on its way to becoming something else.

This is what came to Art Director Darin Beaman’s mind walking his dog and coming across the sycamore branch that appears in the cover art and poster, carrying it two miles back home for the photos. It was the perfect metaphor for Behold after reading the lyrics and our exploratory discussions.

The songs are experiences that we all know, that we all have, that we all carry with us – it’s a record of hope, acceptance and reconciliation. We get there through our struggles as things shift, evolve, grow, “become something else” – but it’s a record of hope as life changes, and changes us.

Like these experiences, the music itself is powerful and intense, but almost “symphonic” as some have noted, reflective and meditative. It is intricate in the arrangements, the instrumentation and orchestration, in the tunings, layers and textures, in the melodies and lyrics.

It was really important to me to have a personal connection with everyone involved, and I have a dream team of artists helping bring this vision to life – Aaron Smith, Greg Lawless, Jeff Schroeder, Eric Campuzano, Mike Lawson, Christopher Colbert, Julian Kindred, even a children’s choir – all have brought themselves to this record. We are all so excited to get this record into the world.

Can you help us bring this to completion? The funds do not go to me, but to the artists, the studios, manufacturing, all the hard costs that go along with getting this into people’s hands. We have worked really hard at putting together a series of unique, individual experiences, from the music itself, commentary, handwritten lyrics, photos, zoom calls, songwriting consultations, having your name in the credits, and more! Please help us out if you can, and thank you so much for reading. I’m so very grateful for your support over the years.

Thank you so much for your consideration and support!
