The Children
Alternative Rock
Costa Mesa, California, USA
The children are best known as an early band that featured Michael J. Pritzl of The Violet Burning fame and Michael Misiuk of Acoustic Shack, Autumn Rose, and The Kreepdowns fame.
The Children formed about 1983-84 by Pritzl and his sister Laura on lead vocals. At first, they played acoustic songs in churches. Tom Dunn was the original drummer, with Misiuk joining the band as well. Laura left to become a nurse and ended up marrying Misiuk and forming Autumn Rose (which became Acoustic Shack). Jerry Andrews joined the band, Misiuk left, and Kirk Gentry joined.
Gentry and Pritzl wanted to get more serious by looking for a label to record an album. Dunn and Andrews weren't interested in that path, so they formed The Shekinah Brothers. Pritzl began playing with Chris Lizotte, who was in Labor of Love at the time. Then Pritzl left the band to get his life right with God, and that was the end of the band.
About 1988, Pritzl felt he had gotten right with God. Gentry asked him to get back into music because of his songwriting gift, and they formed The Violet Burning with Misiuk and Lonnie Tubbs.
Pritzl, Misiuk, and and Andrews have also released solo music.
