2017 marks my 20th year of writing online about music (and other pop culture), of trying to shine a light on art that’s beautiful and true, but that might get otherwise overlooked by our increasingly rushed and consumer-driven society.
To celebrate those 20 years, I decided to indulge a long-held fantasy of mine — running a record label — and reached out to some of my favorite artists that I’ve reviewed, interviewed, and written about over the last two decades. You’re looking at the results.
Twenty Years and Counting represents yet another form of what I’ve been doing for 20 years with my writing: attempting to help some deserving artists get a bit more attention. This compilation spans genres, from folk to electronic pop, from experimental to ambient — but each and every one of these artists deserves your time (and money).
Many thanks to them for their generosity.
All proceeds from Twenty Years and Counting will go to Shared Vision International (www.sharingvision.us), a non-profit dedicated to providing high-quality eyecare, exams, and eyewear to communities with limited access to vision care.
Thanks for listening… and reading. Here’s to 20 more years.
