Dallas / Fort Worth Scene

The Dallas / Fort Worth (DFW) metroplex had Christian music back into the 1970s/1980s. It became more noticeable in the mid 1990s in the early 2000s as several churches/ministries created concert venues. Six Flags was also known to bring in bigger bands. The scene tended to connect with other cities as well, such as Oklahoma City, Waxahachie, and Waco. For example, Waco band The Plebian Monarchs moved to DFW and changed their name to The Plebians, several bands were featured on Oklahoma City-based label M&M Records, etc.

In the late 80s/early 90s, Tim Miner brought several Texas-based rap and R&B acts to Frontline Records. He also brought artists from other cities to record at his Knightlight Studios in Dallas. Nicole C. Mullen started as Nicole through this partnership. Rapper D-Boy Rodriguez was tragically murdered in 1990.
